Parkside Films is an award-winning production company founded by director/producer Clay Tweel and producer Shannon Riggs.
SHANNON RIGGS
Producer Shannon Riggs is the co-founder of Parkside Films. With her partner Clay Tweel, she produced Netflix’ documentary series The Innocent Man, HBOMax’s documentary series Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults, and Amazon’s critically acclaimed documentary feature Gleason, which was shortlisted for an Academy Award and won SXSW’s Audience Award.
Prior to Parkside, Shannon was an independent producer working across narrative features, branded content, and music videos. She began her career in development at Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule and segued into line producing, working on studio films like Wedding Crashers, Four Christmases, Super 8, Now You See Me, and Cloverfield.
A participant in the Sundance Female Filmmaker Initiative, Shannon is honored to be a member of Women in Film and actively mentors emerging filmmakers. She is currently producing a series for Netflix and a feature documentary film. She lives and works in Los Angeles with her vivacious dog Bubbles.
CLAY TWEEL
A native Virginian living in LA, Clay is a documentary director/producer/editor with a passion for telling great character based stories. His works include Make Believe, Print the Legend, Finders Keepers, Out of Omaha, The Innocent Man and Gleason - the last of which was shortlisted for an Academy Award and named one of the 5 best documentaries of 2016 by the National Board of Review.
His features have been distributed by Showtime, Netflix, and Amazon Studios while working closely with companies that include Open Road, The Orchard and Exhibit A.
Most recently, Clay executive produced and directed all four episodes of Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults, an examination of the UFO cult through the eyes of its former members and their loved ones. He is currently directing a feature documentary and producing numerous projects under his banner Parkside Films.
